What is happening?

PG Moodle will be upgraded to the most recent stable version of the Moodle platform. Users will not have access to PG Moodle for one day during the upgrade.

Why is this happening?

Upgrading PG Moodle will ensure that it remains secure, stable, and supported by the developers of the Moodle platform. It is also necessary under security and data protection regulations.

When is this happening?

The update will happen on the dates noted below. Specific times are to be confirmed.

Date Action
Monday 8 March 2021 The service will be taken offline, and the upgrade process will begin.
Tuesday 9 March 2021 PG Moodle will be back online. Users can access the service.

All scheduled times are at GMT (UK time). You can use the following website to see the time difference between your location and the UK: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/difference.html

What is the impact?

Users will not be able to access PG Moodle for one day. This will not affect any other services, such as reading lists.

We do not expect any problems once PG Moodle is back online, however any upgrade comes with a risk of unexpected issues. Please be patient if this happens, we will be working to ensure it causes as little disruption as possible.

What should I do?

If you will need access to anything from PG Moodle on the day of the upgrade then you can prepare for this before PG Moodle is taken offline:

  • If you will need course materials, you can export the relevant Moodle books to a Microsoft Word or PDF file. For instructions, please see the PG Moodle Guide Book, which is available in Technical Support – Students.
  • If you have not already done so, you can download and save the feedback related to your latest submission.
