Dear Students
We are nearing the end of 2024 and would like to use this opportunity to look back at the achievements that we have made and improved your learner experience in PG Moodle and the programmes within.
Let's see together what our team has achieved this year.
Achievements
User Interface
At the start of the year we improved the user interface. This consisted of the following improvements which made PG Moodle easier to use, aesthetically pleasing, provided visual distinctions and a clearer layout.

In modules for uploaded files the file type was made visible to users

Within topics improved spacing (padding) and borders added around content where needed
Colour scheme
Enhanced the colour scheme in PG Moodle so it is more accessible and clearer.
Links open in new tabs
In March through the PG Moodle User Experience survey a key challenge had surfaced and was related to navigation. On the front page of the modules the links were opening in new windows, rather than in new tabs, and this disrupted the flow of navigation. This was fixed and now links open in a new tab. This may have been a small change but the impact was significant so thank you for sharing your experiences.
Video service migration
Over the summer we transitioned from the current to a new video platform for our video delivery called Panopto, which is now the University’s official video service platform.
Landing Page redesign
The landing page needs a redesign to make it more engaging for current and potential students. We designed a prototype and shared it with you the students and colleagues and received valuable feedback. Thank you for sharing your feedback. We were hoping to develop and launch the new landing page later this year however we were unable to, and the plan is to move this project forward in early 2025.
Programme Enhancements
Masters in Medical Education (Online Distance) - For the new academic year for this programme we increased the module duration from 10 to 12 weeks and restructured the weeks/topics. This was significant as you the students shared experiences over time and said that you couldn’t fully engage with content, activities and assessment within 10 weeks. We listened to you.
MSc in Clinical Embryology & In Vitro Fertilisation (Online Distance) - For this new programme we developed new modules for the diploma level for semesters 1 and 2. Module banners were also created for this programmes’ modules, we hope you find these visually pleasing!

I want to thank everyone in the Learner Experience Design Team and colleagues in professional services and academic staff who were involved in these projects. Your commitment, hard work, and diverse thoughts have been indispensable.
Also, I would like to thank you the students for your support and sharing your experiences and feedback. It is because of this we can continuously improve the learner experience.
